Background:
Beau O'Shay received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics with
concentration in Computer Science from Cornell University in August
1999, and a Master of Engineering Degree in Applied & Engineering
Physics, also from Cornell, in January 2000. In May 2002 he received a
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering/Electro-Physics from the
University of Southern California.
He has worked at the Space Science Center at USC analyzing solar flare
data and performing EUV spectroscopy, as an optics laboratory
technician at the Nano-Biotechnology Division of the Agricultural and
Biological Engineering Department at Cornell University, and at the
Center for Radiophysics and Space Research at Cornell University.
In October 2002 he became a doctoral candidate in Electrical and
Computer Engineering at UC San Diego, where he is performing research
on laser-plasma physics and magnetic diversion of expanding laser
plasma.
