Background:
Mark Tillack received his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering in 1983 from
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been involved in
energy research since that time. He was a member of the UCLA
Institute for Plasma and Fusion Research from 1983-1994 where he held
the title Principal Institute Scientist. In 1995 he was a Guest
Research Scientist at the Institute for Applied Thermo- and Fluid
Dynamics, Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (FZK), Germany. He is currently
pursuing research on laser-matter interactions and applications of
high energy pulsed lasers.
Research and Academic Interests:
Heat transfer and mechanical behavior of high heat flux systems;
power plant engineering; liquid metal magnetohydrodynamics;
transient electromagnetics; laser plasma and laser-matter interactions.
