Transportation

San Diego International Airport (SAN), know as "Lindbergh Field", provides the primary airline service for the area, and is 15 miles south of UCSD. Additional air commuter connections from Los Angeles (LAX) are available into the McClellan-Palomar airport in Carlsbad, California (CLD), about 22 miles north of UCSD. Private cars are the usual means of transport in southern California. Without a car, transportation from the airports to hotels is provided by taxi (about $50-55 to the designated hotels) or shuttle service (inquire at airport).

Some hotels provide shuttle arrangements for transportation to and from the UCSD campus (see Lodging).

If you are driving a private vehicle to UCSD, please purchase a parking pass at the machines available in the parking lots. Please be sure to park in designated spaces to avoid ticketing (see Parking)
